Dr Ullman,

We have not had previous experience of the ECHO metadata standards, and so I do not think the UK Met Office are in a position to comment constructively at present.

However I have had some experience with the ISO 19115 standard. I was involved in developing the WMO Core Profile of the standard. I have also been involved in the EC INSPIRE Metadata Drafting Team, and I am familiar with the second version of the UK GEMINI metadata.. These are both cut-down profiles of the ISO 19115/19119 data and service standards intended for Discovery, rather than Evaluation and Use Metadata.

As such I am very interested in the mappings of ECHO to the ISO standards. I understand they aren't yet complete, but it would be very helpful If I could see even a draft mapping. An existing expert interpretation of the mapping would be invaluable in assessing where the ECHO metadata sits with respect to other communities.

Yours Sincerely
