Recent experiences with software reuse.

Reuse Experiences

The next group of questions in the survey asked about recent reuse experiences, and found that 79% of the respondents reused software development artifacts developed outside of their group/project within the last five years.

Motivation for Reuse

The primary motivations for reuse were saving time, ensuring reliability, and saving money. Also, 87.3% of the respondents rated saving time as important or very important, the two highest options.

Types of Software Reused

The types of software reused were typically smaller sized components, such as code fragments and code libraries. Larger components were reused, but to a lesser extent.
