Held by NASA's Earth-Sun Sytem Technology Office (ESTO), this sixth annual technology conference will cover a broad range of technologies and disciplines within the Earth and Sun science areas. The 2006 Summer ESIP Federation Conference will be July 18-21 at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, NY. The meeting will feature a mix of plenary, technical and science/applications breakout tracks in areas including air quality, coastal management, disaster management, ecological forecasting, public health, and water management. Technical Workshops will be held on July 18 and provide a mixture of presentations, discussions, and hands-on activities relating to areas such as web-services implementations, enabling technologies, and metadata creation and management.

The motivation of the 2006 World Congress in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Applied Computing is to assemble a spectrum of affiliated research conferences into a coordinated research meeting held in a common place at a common time. The main goal is to provide a forum for exchange of ideas in a number of research areas that interact. The model used to form these annual conferences facilitates communication among researchers in different fields of computer science, computer engineering and applied computing. Within the 28 major planned conferences are topics on software reuse and computer supported cooperative work (SERP'06), scientific computing such as atmospheric science and inversion problems in geophysics (CSC'06), and web services (SWWS'06).

TeraGrid is an open scientific discovery infrastructure funded by the National Science Foundation. TeraGrid combines leadership class resources at eight partner sites to create an integrated, persistent computational resource. TeraGrid provides more than 150 teraflops of computing power and nearly 2 petabytes of rotating storage, numerous scientific data collections, specialized data analysis tools, scientific gateways and user portals to simplify access to valuable resources, and visualization resources all interconnected via a high-speed gigabits/second dedicated national network.
